The short version: BeatStride works entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers. No account. No internet required. Everything stays on your phone.
What We Do Not Collect
BeatStride does not collect, request, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Location data of any kind
- Device identifiers for advertising purposes
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to external servers
- Any data that leaves your device
What Is Stored On Your Device
The following information is stored locally on your device only, using your device's built-in storage. It is never transmitted anywhere.
- Session history — metronome and cadence training sessions you complete, including duration, BPM/cadence, and step/beat counts
- Settings and preferences — your chosen default cadence, BPM, instrument sounds, and app settings
- Personal reflections — any notes you choose to write in the Reflections journal feature
- Achievement progress — badges and milestones you've unlocked
If you uninstall BeatStride, all of this data is permanently deleted along with the app.
App Permissions
BeatStride requests the following device permissions. All of them exist to keep your training sessions running accurately in the background — none are used to collect or transmit any data.
- Foreground Service & Notification — keeps an Athletic-mode session's timers accurate and shows a persistent "Workout in progress" notification while your screen is off.
- Wake Lock & Battery Optimization Exemption — prevents Android from slowing down session timers during long screen-off training runs. The battery-optimization exemption is requested via a one-time system dialog and can be declined without affecting the rest of the app.
- Full-Screen Alert — wakes your screen and shows an alarm-style notification above the lock screen when a rest period ends, so you don't miss the start of your next set.
- Internet — declared by the app framework but not used to send or receive any data. BeatStride makes no network requests of any kind.
We do not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, files, or location.
Children's Privacy
BeatStride does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13, because the app does not collect personal information from any user at all.
Third-Party Services
BeatStride does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app contains no ads in this version.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
